We will conduct our annual meeting
responsibilities, reports,
election, etc.
Plus, we will greet and hear from
Kimberly Irizarry, the young and enthusiastic Dean of
the DeVry University at Palmdale’s AERO Institute. “Kimberly did a tremendous job exciting school kids
about science and math with the Digital Learning Network while working for NASA at the Dryden Flight
Center”, said the Institute President.
Dubbed “K to
Gray”, programs will enhance K-12 education, post-
graduate degrees and continuing education programs.
She sounds like our kind of lady!!!
Please note that this is a date change from that printed
in the Yearbook.
“Fresh Cooking” - A New AAUW Interest Group
This group has been born out of interest in the recent book club reading, “Animal, Vegetable and
Miracle” by Barbara Kingsolver, who describes her first year in Virginia planting, growing and cooking food for her family. Fresh Cooking will explore the in’s and out’s of cooking with seasonal and
mostly local produce “from scratch”.
Our first experimental get together was at Anne Marie Novinger’s home where the three founding
members launched into making mozzarella cheese. Let me tell you, it was really good!
Our next meeting is Sunday, May 4th at 10:30AM at the home of Nicki Keene, 26261 Paramount
Drive in Bear Valley.
Please call her if you would like to participate as a working cook in this group.
This session will focus on how to make homemade pasta and will feature seasonal produce made into
homemade sauces by our group onsite (of course, we’ll eat it all afterward). Phone: 821-2079, RSVP
by May 1st. Remember, if you come, you work.
